History of The Bajoran Web Page

Why, hello there! Welcome to the Official Archives of the Bajoran Militia, where history is our business! It's a pleasure to meet you--we don't get many visitors here. You want a summary of the important events in the life of the Militia? Well, you've come to the right place, then, because history is our business--Did I say that before?...My apologies, then. My memory hasn't quite been the same ever since I became librarian here. My brother--he's a doctor, you know--says I've been hit over the head with one too many books. Quite a brilliant surgeon, my brother. Just brilliant.

But back to the history of the Bajoran Militia. We were formed just after the Cardassian Occupation, when the provisional government needed a show of force to prove their independence. And what better way to prove your strength than to have a big, tough military, hum? So they gathered all the former resistance members into an official army. And here we are. Actually, this is just the PR department--got to keep up those public relations, you know--the real Militia is on Bajor, protecting the planet against the Cardassian/Dominion alliance. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Not long after we were formed, we were split in half by the Circle's attempted coup. Nasty business, that. A good deal of our forces followed Kai Winn and Minister Jaro, but the majority of us stayed loyal, of course, or we wouldn't be here today, would we? In fact--where are we again?

Ah, yes. The Circle's coup. Things were pretty peaceful for a while, but of course that wouln't last. There was that horrible plague a few years back. And then the First Minister died. That mess split us in half once again--Bajorans are notorious for firmly supporting anything they believe in, and there were so many opinions that it got quite complicated for a while.

And just recently, we had the Dominion Occupation. Dreadful, simply dreadful. Jem'Hadar are such bad conversationalists, you know. I'd hate to have to work for one. During the second occupation, the Militia was temporarily disbanded, which was awful, because many of us didn't have anywhere to go after that. But, luckily, the Occupation didn't last long, and here we are today!

Thank you so much for dropping by--What did you say your name was again?...Ah, yes. Well, thank you for visiting the Official Archives of the Bajoran Militia, where history is our business. Good day, and come again!
